San Francisco?s Itani Dental Now Offers Home Visits to Special Needs Patients

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) February 27, 2012

Dr. Samer Itani, a San Francisco dentist with more than a decade of experience working with special needs patients, announces mobile dental services designed to provide infirm, immobile or phobic patients with the most comfortable and effective dental care possible. For some patients, a routine dental appointment is a struggle due to phobias, mobility issues, or behavioral or cognitive disorders. These ?special needs? patients require the in-home service care that Dr. Itani provides for the San Francisco Bay Area.

?In-home care is an important aspect of dental service that many dentists choose not to provide,? notes Dr. Itani. ?It requires special equipment and techniques, as well as the willingness to leave the routine of our office to be available for special needs patients.?

Home dental visits benefit patients with debilitating dental phobias, Alzheimer?s, Down syndrome, autism, Cerebral Palsy, Parkinson?s disease, full spectrum disorder, heart disease, and those who are wheelchair or bed-bound due to age or infirmity.

?Even though I hated dentists my whole life, I felt safe and knew that I was in good hands,? raves one of Dr. Itani?s special needs patients. ?It might have been one of the best doctor experiences I have ever had!?

?I developed our Dentistry to Your Door program to provide an option for Bay Area special needs patients. With the aging of the baby boomer generation, and the rise in autistic spectrum disorders as well as phobias, I felt there was a need to increase the availability of mobile or traveling dental services,? said Dr. Itani.

Dr. Itani and his team of experienced dental professionals have the specific expertise, equipment, mobility, and sedation options that special needs dentistry requires. Dr. Itani?s experience in sleep and sedation dentistry, as well as several San Francisco area hospital affiliations for situations requiring general anesthesia, makes him one of the Bay Area?s leading special needs dentists.

Itani Dental additionally offers general dentistry and restoration, cleaning and prevention; cosmetic restoration, and permanent dental implants available in office, as well as in a patient?s home, hospital or nursing home.

Seattle Company Featured on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

Seattle (PRWEB) December 5, 2005

On Sunday December 4th, 2005, the portable and rechargeable Emphasis light:night was featured product on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition for the Novak family. (ABC-8:00 PM CST)

The Novak family has three children, each with their own specific needs, and Emphasis has provided one light:night of each color to compliment the designs in each of their rooms. ?This is obviously an excellent opportunity for Emphasis Products to have the light:night featured on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. However, we are most pleased to be able to meet the needs of the Novak family,? said Cedric Davis, Director of Sales & Marketing.

The light:night will be ideal for Jeff while tending to his infant Presley. Because it?s portable, the light:night is perfect for late night diaper changes or feedings, and it can be taken into bed or used in co-sleepers because it never gets hot. The light:night has been designed with a recharging cradle that conveniently rests on the nightstand or dresser. The 3 foot cord on the cradle makes the light:night the only ?night-light? on the market that is always within reach while simultaneously detouring curious toddlers away from electrical sockets. When removed from its cradle, or in the event of a power failure, the light:night automatically transitions to bright white mode which eliminates searching for switches and stumbling over toys or fully waking the kids with harsh overhead lights or lamps. During bedtime stories, Jeff can place the light:night in his lap to illuminate the book and not the entire room so the girls can actually fall to sleep. Then he can use the light:night to safely navigate his way out of the room without disrupting them.

In color mode, the light:night will provide added security against parasomnias for all three children. During sleep time Jeff can set the light:night in each child?s room to cast a colorful glow throughout the room. That glow will become much like a favorite teddy bear or pacifier and, if one of the girl?s wakes during the night, Jeff won?t need to search the room or bed to find it. Being portable, the light:night can be taken to their grandparent?s or any unfamiliar setting, such as hotel rooms or outdoor vacations, to provide a peaceful reminder to little ones that wake in the night. For Zoey, the oldest of the three girls, the light:night will be especially useful for potty runs and sleepover?s with her friends.

Emphasis officially introduced, the light:night, to their modern line of portable, rechargeable lights in 2005. Emphasis incorporates LED?s into their product line because they are efficient, long lasting, and never generate heat. ?Each LED has a continuous life span of 100,000 hours (11 years), consumes 90% less energy than the incandescent bulbs traditional lamps and the LED?s won?t get hot.? said designer Cameron Smith. ?Modern families need products that are versatile, functional and designed to last. The light:night has features that are useful to both parents and children? said June Smith, President of Emphasis, ?The light:night functions as a night-light, lantern, book light, emergency light and ambient mood light; all this and it fits in the palm of your hand.?

In 2005, the light:night received The National Parenting Center Seal of Approval, which is a lifetime certification for child safety. The light:night is child-safe and parent-practical. They?re built to last so, after a child hits puberty, it can be placed in the guest room or used for outdoor recreation such as camping or RV. But as long as the baby is still a baby, keep in mind that the light:night is the only portable luminary that keeps children away from electrical sockets, provides long life without replacing batteries and bulbs, and eliminates burned fingers and fire hazards (no heat).

Nation?s Oldest Home Care Provider Celebrates 30 Years and Rebrands

Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) June 11, 2012

Griswold Home Care, the nation?s oldest non-medical home care provider, is celebrating thirty years of excellence and undergoing a full brand makeover. As of this month, Griswold Special Care will be rebranded under the new name Griswold Home Care.

Since its founding in 1982, Griswold Home Care has helped over 80,000 seniors and their families find home care options best suited to their needs. The 30th anniversary is being marked with a complete rebranding effort including an updated brand name, redesigned logo and new website.

At the cornerstone of the rebranding effort is the change in brand name from ?Griswold Special Care? to ?Griswold Home Care.? The new name, Griswold Home Care, more accurately reflects the services offered by the company. Griswold Home Care refers caregivers who provide non-medical in-home care services to the elderly and disabled with a focus on safe and independent living.

The company?s updated logo is a creative fusion of a house and a heart, which conveys the company?s dedication to compassionate, quality home care. President Graham Weihmiller states that the new logo represents the evolution of Griswold Home Care?s heritage. ?It evokes traditions and images from the company?s past and refreshes them, underscoring a steadfast commitment to excellence in all our services,? said Weihmiller.

The new website was designed to simplify the process of finding quality home care for loved ones. The website features several educational resources for seniors and family caregivers including the newly relaunched CaringTimes Blog. Formerly a monthly newsletter, CaringTimes will now be a blog that provides timely tips, advice and information related to senior health and caring for aging loved ones.

Griswold Home Care franchise offices are celebrating the rebrand with clients and community leaders throughout the summer. Cathy Howard, 20-year owner of the Griswold Home Care of Stratford, CT, celebrated with a cocktail party and dinner for Griswold partners and community leaders throughout Fairfield County. Randy Lee Griffin, RN MS HNC, author of Changing the Culture for Dementia Care, spoke at the event.

?Community Based Services are a critical component to quality of care and quality of life for independent living for seniors. The rebrand will bring an added awareness of the services Griswold Home Care provides,? said Griffin.

A leader in the home care industry, Griswold Home Care refers professional caregivers who specialize in a range of non-medical home care needs including Alzheimer’s and dementia care, arthritis care, companion care, and rehabilitative care.

Griswold Home Care prides itself on carefully selecting caregivers through the CareAssure Screening System? which has been developed over 30 years to screen caregivers for competence, integrity and compassion. Less than 5% of caregiver applicants pass this selection process, ensuring that Griswold Home Care refers only the very best caregivers to clients.

As Griswold Home Care launches its new name and revamped look, the company remains dedicated its mission of thirty years: providing the highest quality professional caregivers at an affordable cost in order to preserve each client?s dignity, comfort, safety, well-being and happiness.

State-of-the-Art Indoor Air Ventilation Products Added to Priority Energy?s Growing Services for a More Comfortable and Energy Efficient Home

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) April 30, 2012

Indoor air quality (IAQ) is greatly affected by the level of ventilation in a home or building. Today?s more air-tight buildings may not be ventilated properly to eliminate contaminant buildup, such as dust, chemicals, humidity and other allergens. Heat Recovery Ventilation (HRV) and Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV) systems rejuvenate air by exchanging stale indoor air with fresh, clean air as much as eight times a day. With the state-of-the art heat exchange process, the system improves HVAC efficiency by transferring the temperature of the outgoing air to the incoming air, which creates a more comfortable, evenly heated and cooled environment.

The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers? (ASHRA?), latest standard for residential homes (ASHRAE 62.2) recommends a minimum of 7.5 cubic feet for each person and 1 cubic foot for each square foot of living space in outdoor make-up air per minute (CFM), be brought into indoor living areas.IECC 2009 and IECC 2012 building codes are now requiring new construction to be tested for adequate ventilation. Today?s air-sealed and better insulated buildings need to have properly-sized HVAC and ventilation mechanicals to ensure healthy indoor air quality. A BPI or RESNET certified energy auditor can perform ventilation and air quality assessments, on new and existing homes, make recommendations and provide IECC and Energy Star verifications.

According to the EPA, the air inside of homes can be as much as 10 to 70 times more polluted than the air outside. ?This is one of the reasons we have expanded our home comfort services. We don?t want to see homeowners invest time and money in efficiency improvements only to develop air quality issues,? says Robert Schildgen, owner and CEO of Priority Energy. ?Lifebreath clean air products offer safety benefits as well. Since they operate off of the hot water system there are never concerns about flames, fumes or flue gases.?

As the leading energy solutions and ventilation experts in Chicago, Priority Energy consultants say there are several steps to designing a ventilation system that will maximize indoor air quality in a new or existing home. A building?s overall air tightness level will determine its need for ventilation and the type of system that is best suited for a specific home or building. A trained auditor will address existing problems with the building structure (mold, asbestos, etc.), existing occupant health concerns (asthma, allergies, etc?), and of course advise on efficiency and comfort targets; all factors in the proper design of a customized ventilation system.

Priority Energy will host a training seminar for Contractors, Building Officials, Architects and Energy Auditors titled:

Everything You Need to Know about Improving Indoor Air Quality in Today?s Air Tight Buildings; Heat Retention Ventilation / System Design / Installation / IECC and Energy Star Requirements

Wednesday, May 9, 2012 from 8:00 AM ? 4:30 PM in Chicago. Call 1(800) 737-2299 to register.

Port St Lucie, FL (PRWEB) May 31, 2012

Due to the recent recession, the raging popularity of internet shopping, along with the ever-expanding ?Home Depot demographic,? a new demand for DIY (Do-It-Yourself) handicapped lifts has emerged. Natural Health Information Centre Announces New Partners to Eliminate Toxic Chemicals from Home and Personal Care Products

London, UK (PRWEB) February 17, 2007

Further to its campaign to educate the public to the dangers of harmful chemicals, controversial website Natural Health Information Centre has today announced partnerships with leading manufacturers to ensure that non-toxic products are available to all who want them

Chemicals like sodium lauryl sulfate have long been known to cause serious health effects, such as infertility, precocious puberty (children experiencing puberty at dangerously young ages) and even cancer, leading the American Cancer Society, amongst others, to call for their removal from consumer products. These calls have been largely ignored by industry, which seems uninterested in the genuine concerns of its customers.

Due to unprecedented levels of enquiries from its fast-growing readership, the top-ranked natural health website has joined forces with major consumer-oriented manufacturers to provide chemical-free products to concerned citizens. SLS-free Products such as shampoos, toothpastes etc provide safe alternatives to the run-of-the-mill versions, whose contents read like a chemistry text book.

New providers and products are being continually sourced and listed, and options from multiple manufacturers are already available in several categories:

SLS-free shampoos

SLS-free toothpaste

SLS-free body wash

Further additions, including cosmetics and products specifically formulated to protect children, who are especially sensitive to toxins, are planned and will be added in the near future.

Brian Adamson, founder of Natural Health Information Centre, commented “Consumers have been abused, ignored and lied to for too long in the name of corporate profit. Products like these give them a fighting chance to prevent illness and even recover from chronic health problems by avoiding unnecessary toxins.” “It is a disgrace that multinational corporations put their own greed before the health of their customers, and that regulatory agencies such as the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) are failing to protect the public and frequently have links to these corporations which are, at the very least, questionable.”

Natural Health Information Centre has for 5 years been at the forefront of the campaign to ban SLS and other harmful chemicals from consumer products. Not shy to discuss subjects considered too controversial by mainstream health commentators, it has already succeeded in bringing these toxins to public attention and has risen from nothing to be one of the most visited natural health sites on the web. Indeed, attracting more web traffic than 99% of all other websites, it is clearly outpunching its far bigger rivals to reach the increasing number of citizens that are concerned about what they are putting both into and on to their bodies.

Natural Health Information Centre is a private organization dedicated to the education of consumers in all matters related to health and wellness. Please direct all enquiries via the website.

New Book Launched To Guide Home Carers of Dementia Sufferers

(PRWEB) May 29, 2012

As the world?s population ages, so too do the numbers of dementia sufferers, including those diagnosed with Alzheimers Disease. A newly released book ?Hold My Hand? by Australian Bill Gomatos is a moving account of how he rearranged his life to ensure that his wife, Chrisoula, continued to receive the care she needed in a familiar and loving environment: home.

Bill emigrated to Australia as a young man, and there a lifelong romance and partnership began when he met Chrisoula. They worked together in their family business in country Victoria for over 30 years, but their retirement dreams were shattered when, in 2004, Chris was diagnosed with Alzheimers dementia.

As Bill soon discovered, when a family member elects to care for a loved one with dementia, they face both practical and emotional obstacles. ?Hold My Hand? explores those challenges, and reveals the innovative, yet common sense, strategies that Bill has used to make his life as a dementia carer easier.

?There was never any doubt that I would become Chris? carer, ours is a partnership for life? said Mr Gomatos. ?But I was really flying blind – there was no instruction book or guide to help me.?

?It meant that I had to devise my own ways of managing Chris? day to day care as well as uncovering what help was available to people like me? he continued. ?And while there is a great deal of of assistance out there, it is not easily found.?

This was the impetus for Bill to write ?Hold My Hand?. In doing so he has created a practical guide for caring for people living with dementia, at home, with input from other carers who have shared their stories and strategies that have never before been documented in such a caring and thoughtful way.

?Hold My Hand? details the vast array of support organisations and programs which are available in Australia, and provides relevant contact information for readers.

?My aim in writing the book was to ease the lives of other carers, and their loved ones? said Bill.

?Hold My Hand? by Bill Gomatos is available now from http://www.holdmyhand.net.au.

About Bill Gomatos

Bill Gomatos was born in Greece, the youngest of five children. He immigrated to Australia as a young man, where he met his wife-to-be, Chrisoula. Together they ran their own business in the food and dairy industry for over 30 years, and raised four daughters.

Bill has always been a proud father and husband, but his life changed dramatically when Chris was diagnosed with dementia in 2004, and he became her full time carer.

In 2012 Bill?s first book ?Hold My Hand?, a guide for carers of people with dementia, was published.

The HOME Foundation, Aviir & Cause;ology Proudly Support The Guard A Heart Foundation at Purses From The Heart Event in Beverly Hills

Beverly Hills, CA (PRWEB) May 31, 2012

The HOME Foundation proudly supported the Guard A Heart Foundation at their Purses From The Heart event, hosted by Aviir and Cause;ology, last Thursday May 24th at the luxurious SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills. The Guard A Heart Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about heart disease. Frankie Verdugo, President of The HOME Foundation, when asked about the Purses From The Heart Event said, ?It was great to see a good turn out and that all the ladies supported the cause by doing what they do well, shopping for designer handbags and doing it for a good cause was a plus.?

Guard A Heart?s ?Know Your Risk, Save A Life? campaign raises awareness about the importance of effective risk assessment in preventing heart attacks. Doug Harrington, M.D., CEO of Aviir Heart Laboratories is a proud supporter of Guard A Heart. Aviir is a biotechnology company founded by cardiologists and scientists at Stanford University, dedicated to the prevention of cardiovascular disease through innovative laboratory tests.

?The mission of Guard a Heart is the prevention of heart attacks through greater awareness of risk assessment options and healthy lifestyle choices,? said Dr. Harrington. ?So, the two foundations are very complementary and we commend them both for their dedication to reducing the devastating impact of cardiovascular disease.”

According to the Department of Health and Human Services, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, with more than 2 million people having heart attacks and strokes every year – resulting in 800,000 deaths. Although many patients do survive, they often suffer life-altering consequences. The mission of Guard A Heart is to educate people on the importance of risk assessment, starting at age 20, so the appropriate steps become a priority to prevent heart attacks.

About Guard A Heart

Guard A Heart is a non-profit foundation dedicated to raising awareness of heart disease prevention by spreading the word to guard your heart and save your life. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. If individuals know their risk and take the necessary steps, the good news is that most cardiovascular disease is preventable. Although heart disease is typically diagnosed in adulthood, its roots are often found in childhood. Compelling research has shown that plaque buildup in the arterial walls begins very early in life and progresses through increasing degrees of atherosclerosis. Intervention strategies and healthy lifestyle changes to reduce heart disease risk should begin in childhood when reversal of the process is easier, not later in life when the disease is more fully developed. Guard a Heart Foundation provides funding for individuals who are unable to pay for cardiac risk assessments.

About Aviir

Aviir was founded in 2005 by cardiologists and scientists from the Stanford University School of Medicine to focus on discovery, development and commercialization of innovative diagnostic tests. The biotechnology company specializes in developing proprietary diagnostic tests that will assist in identifying patients that are truly at high risk for the development of a cardiac event. Aviir’s proprietary MIRisk and TruRisk assessments objectively identify, by a simple blood draw, individuals who are at a high risk of a cardiac event over the next five years. Aviir’s CLIA laboratory (Irvine, CA) complements these novel tests with a wide range of additional tests for risk assessment and therapeutic monitoring of cardiovascular disease and related metabolic disorders — including pharmacogenomic and genetic tests. The company has adopted a unique clinical laboratory service model to provide physicians better diagnostic tools that improve cardiovascular health of their patients. The company is privately owned and funded by leading life science venture capital firms.
