Grand Adventures Ranch Launches Holistic Equine Cancer Recovery Program

Sonoita, AZ (PRWEB) September 6, 2008

Grand Adventures Ranch, already well-known for providing holistic alternatives toward animal health, has introduced the Equine Cancer Recovery Program, a recovery program to help cancer-stricken horses.

For too long, the word ‘cancer’ can mean the immediate death for a horse. Like humans, conventional treatment for equine cancer can be overwhelmingly expensive, often with disappointing results.

Grand Adventures Ranch — located just outside of Tucson, Arizona — is out to change all that with its new holistic equine wellness center that offers horse owners an ‘All-Inclusive’ integrative approach combining nutrition, detoxification, oxygenation and immune support.

The motto at Grand Adventures Ranch is “Cancer is a blessing. The blessing of time given by a warning sign.”

Successful recoveries with the ranch’s protocol have included horses with squamous cell carcinoma, sarcoids and melanomas.

A key difference between Grand Adventure Ranch and other equestrian healing organizations is that Grand Adventure focuses on recovery as opposed to the disease. Program horses receive complete veterinary supervised care, augmented by physical therapy, massage, BioScan light therapy (photopuncture) and access to large grass pastures. All horses receive a diet of the best grass hays, organic grains, and full nutritional supplementation.

“Cancer doesn’t have to be a terminal illness for a human, and there is no reason it automatically has to be for a horse either” center director Kay Aubrey-Chimene said. “We provide the very best individualized care for each and every horse that comes through the program.”

Quality of life is vital at Grand Adventures Ranch, which is why horses are not kept in small, shut-in stalls or kept in isolation. All stalls have spacious runs and horses have regular pasture turn out. Each horse is partnered with pasture buddies to provide emotional as well as physical support.

Perhaps best of all, owners have complete access to their horses and are encouraged to participate in the recovery process. The historic Rainbow’s End Bed & Breakfast is onsite for those wishing to stay for longer periods.

For those who cannot bring their horses to the ranch, personalized, remote coaching programs are also available. Clients in the coaching program learn new approaches toward feeding and caring for horses to prevent serious health challenges while working with a targeted health regimen for their horse.

The Equine Cancer Recovery Program is the latest holistic offering from Grand Adventures Ranch, who already has received high praise for its boarding and therapy offerings.

Grand Adventures Ranch is a holistic equine wellness center located in Sonoita, Arizona on the historic Sonoita Stallion Manor ranch originally built for Quarter Horse racing legend ‘Lightning Bar’. The center directors are Kay Aubrey-Chimene, Bio-Nutritional Consultant and her husband Jeff Chimene.

hCG Treatments / Diet Doc Weight Loss Program Aims to Lower Blood Pressure Through an Easy to Follow Ketogenic Diet

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) July 13, 2012

The ketogenic diet has long been known to treat a variety of health conditions ranging from epilepsy, to diabetes, to even anxiety. However, recent studies have shown the diet is very effective in lowering blood pressure as well. The American Heart Association reported this year that over 76.4 million Americans age 20 and older have high blood pressure, which translates into one in three adults in the U.S. alone.

Weight is known to be one of the biggest contributors to high blood pressure, and those who are overweight and obese tend to be at a higher risk. Even with most doctors advising their patients on how to lose weight and lower their blood pressure by following a healthy diet, most people still need additional resources and support to make those healthy lifestyle changes.

Diet Doc?s personalized hCG weight loss program is managed by their team of doctors, nutritionists and weight loss coaches and bridges that gap. Following a ketogenic diet, their plans consist of four progressive stages, each built around carefully selected and purposeful foods. The goal of the diet is to have the body produce ketones, which are compounds that the body can use to produce energy, a contrast to the average body that uses glucose from carbohydrates for energy purposes. With the lack of glucose in the bloodstream, the body draws on fat stores for fuel, causing the appearance of ketones in the blood. Switching the body from being a carb-burning machine to a fat-burning one causes one to lose weight and therefore reduce blood pressure.

hCGTreatments / Diet Doc works hard to ensure the success of each patient. After receiving a health evaluation from one of their doctors, a customized program is created by a nutritionist and supervised by a health coach. Patients receive weekly phone calls from their coaches who advise them on how to lose weight properly. This effective combination of a ketocenic diet along with advanced clinical support gives Diet Doc?s weight loss program a high success rate in weight loss and in helping to reduce blood pressure leaving their patients in better health overall.

Therapist Creates Relationship Coaching Program for Couples

Ann Arbor, MI (PRWEB) May 25, 2011

Glenn Burdick, MA, LMSW teaches the secret keys to a thriving long- term relationship through a new innovative coaching program called ?The Next Step Forward.? ?After thirty years of counseling couples, I have seen how couples on their way to breakup or divorce could have avoided the downward spiral if they had worked on their relationship in particular ways earlier. I created my coaching program to help couples make an OK relationship thrive, and avoid accumulating ill-will and behaviors that act as nagging irritants before they become full-blown relationship deal breakers. Most couples are unaware of these behaviors that?if continued unchecked, are likely going to erode a relationship to the point of no return,? Burdick explains. Burdick teaches couples alternatives to these behaviors, ones that will help them deepen their connection to each other, while avoiding the mistakes that predictably lead to couples disengaging from one another over time.

?Couples may not identify certain patterns as problems because things still seem ?good enough?. However, the nagging feeling that things could be better is a warning sign, and an indicator that a brief coaching experience may enable them to avoid becoming worn out from years of defensive, disconnecting behavior patterns. It is critical that couples learn how to turn conflict into connection, and avoid leaving each other with the impression that their feelings, wants and needs aren?t important to their partner, or that they are insignificant or invisible to their partner,? says Burdick.

?When a couple begins to regularly engage in what acclaimed researcher John Gottman, PhD, calls ?the four horsemen of the apocalypse?, they are almost certainly headed for trouble. These behaviors include criticism, contempt, defensiveness and stonewalling. Catching issues early on afford a couple simple solutions. Waiting to get help until the end of a relationship is in view, is like waiting until your car?s engine seizes and then deciding to have the oil changed,? warns Burdick.

Designed by Glenn Burdick, The Next Step Forward is a relationship coaching service, requiring an hour of a couple?s time, and can be conduced from anywhere in the world via phone or Skype. By filling out an online questionnaire based upon the idea of a collaborative marriage, the couple engages in conversation, facilitated b Burdick, in which each of their views of the relationship is superimposed, creating a relationship map. The map outlines obvious relational strengths. Burdick assists the couple to build on their positive strengths, and helps them to identify small changes that will make a significant positive difference. Couples develop an action plan based upon these changes. Enrolling in The Next Step Forward is a powerful step to help strengthen couple?s relationships.

Glenn Burdick, MA, LMSW, is a former health columnist for the Ann Arbor News. He is a personal and relationship coach, a marriage counselor, and a psychotherapist with 30 years outpatient mental health treatment experience with mood disorders, relationship problems, psychosomatic and stress-related disorders, PTSD, chronic pain and chronic illness. Burdick has been in private practice since 2000, was the Director and Co-Founder of the Institute for Psychology and Medicine from 1980-2000, and the Director and Staff Psychotherapist, Rehabilitation Health Center from 1986-2000.

hCGTreatments / Diet Doc Weight Reveals The Benefits of a Medically Supervised Weight Loss Program for Results of Up To a Pound a Day, No Surgery Required

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) July 20, 2012

Why choose a medical weight loss program over trying to do it alone…again? There are many reasons people gain weight and fail to lose it, desperate try after desperate try. Whether suffering from morbid obesity that has a cascading effect on their health, or just being unable to keep off that last stubborn ten pounds, it?s not the dieter’s fault. “People don?t gain weight just because they eat too much. There is much more to it than that, and the struggle will continue until they discover the underlying health issues behind the weight gain,” explains Dr. Rao, Medical Director. “People gain weight because of metabolic, hormonal and cellular toxicity issues. Once we address why a person has gained weight in the first place, the losing weight part is easy.”

The hCGTreatments / Diet Doc Diet Plan is the only modern day hCG diet plan in the USA. They provide rapid, medical weight loss that promotes up to 1 pound of abnormal fat loss per day nationwide. There is no need to resort to diet pills, bariatric surgery, lap band or starvation to get extreme weight loss results.

The hCGTreatments / Diet Doc weight loss doctors are not the normal run-of-the-mill doctors. To understand the clinical implications of losing rapid weight, safely, doctors must receive special training. The body will fight the weight loss by slowing down metabolism, along with special consideration for those obesity related health problems, such as diabetes II, hypertension, heart arrhythmia, and cardiology in general. That is because the hCGTreatments / Diet Doc physicians, nurses and weight loss coaches work with their clients to develop a unique, personalized diet plan that uses HCG, while uncovering reasons for weight gain in general. Their Doctors customize a diet plan for each person based on health history, age, gender, lifestyle and preferences. This includes those needing to lose less than 20 pounds to those wanting to lose more than 100 pounds. There is a doctor designed diet for every person and health situation. Tailoring a diet plan for each person is what makes the diet plan promote rapid weight loss when certain clinical and nutritional principles are incorporated into the diet. Even during the program our clinical staff works with each client to adjust their diet to the clients? biochemical changes which occur while doing any diet. It?s all about customization.

“While other HCG dieting programs have you eating only 500 calories per day, our program has evolved to the 21st century and beyond. Our diet is much more effective than any other hCG weight loss program still using the original hCG diet developed in the 1950?s by Dr. Simeons. Eating so few calories per day is inherently risky and can lead to health problems. We have learned a great deal about weight gain problems, nutrition and weight loss since the 1950?s.” Explains Julie Wright, CEO

“During a recent survey of over 29,000 hCGTreatments / Diet Doc patients, they reported our program as the most effective, quickest diet they have ever experienced.” reports Wright. “This is due to the personalization of the hCGTreatments / Diet Doc program along with using customized doctor-designed appetite suppressants, diet foods, weight loss shakes, lipotropic weight loss medication that promotes fat burning and prescription hCG?.which all promote rapid, safe weight loss,” reports Wright.

If society begins to address why people gain weight in the first place, the losing weight part is easy. hCGTreatments / Diet Doc’s program is about changing someone?s life by addressing their metabolic and hormonal issues along with improving their health, so each patient can achieve extreme wight loss results without having to take extreme measures.

Oregon State?s New Online Program A Remedy For Public Health Workforce Issues

Corvallis, OR (PRWEB) July 18, 2012

Oregon State University is answering the call of state officials ? and addressing a nationwide need ? by introducing an online Graduate Certificate in Public Health, designed to provide flexible training opportunities for industry practitioners.

A statement from the Association of Schools of Public Health shows that nearly 25 percent of the nation?s public health workforce is now eligible to retire, and OSU officials say there is a shortage of capable workers in the field to fill the impending void.

But the new certificate program, developed by OSU?s College of Public Health and Human Sciences (CPHHS) and delivered online by OSU Ecampus, helps remedy the situation by offering professional development and a pathway to new career opportunities for public health practitioners.

The program launches this fall.

?We had specific requests from the Oregon Health Authority and local practitioners to provide this certificate because county health administrators need a strong foundation in public health,? said Tom Eversole, the CPHHS project director of strategic development. ?That is precisely what this program provides.?

OSU is home to the only college of public health in the state, and its 20-credit certificate program focuses on the field?s five core areas: epidemiology, health promotion and behavior, biostatistics, environmental and occupational health, and health management and policy.

Eversole says the Ecampus online curriculum even enables business professionals, attorneys and others outside the field to make themselves more competitive in a global workplace.

?The focus of our work is really about people working in communities to help populations become and stay healthy,? he said. ?The scope of the education draws a strong emphasis from behavioral and social sciences that are critical to addressing the population-based health needs of the future, especially around issues of obesity, heart disease, stroke and diabetes.?

All of the online courses are developed and taught by OSU faculty, regarded as national and international experts in the field and whose teaching examples are informed by their own public health research.

And with the workforce shortfall expected to exceed 250,000 professionals during the next decade, the demand for expertly trained practitioners has never been greater.

?There has been a lot of interest in public health of late, and people are looking for creative ways to address the needs of our society ? asking how we can help people prevent disease and lead a healthier life,? said S. Marie Harvey, a CPHHS professor and the associate dean for research and graduate programs. ?Quality of life is important, and public health helps people make changes that will help them and others live in a healthier environment.?

Neuropsychonline is currently being used for rehabilitation treatment in over 300 facilities including four US Military Bases and five US Veteran’s Administration Medical Centers. It is being used by clinicians in 27 countries around the world.

Psychological Software Service (PSS) has been providing scientific, evidence-based software applications for cognitive rehabilitation therapy for 25 Years and online professional cognitive rehabilitation applications since 2001. Dr. Odie Bracy, practicing clinical neuropsychologist and President of Psychological Software Service, has devoted his career to the research, development and clinical implementation of these comprehensive and very well designed therapy systems. The Neuroscience Center of Indianapolis and Dr. Bracy have played a major role in the research and development of computerized applications for examination, diagnostics and treatment dating back to 1981. The original PSSCogRehab Cognitive Rehabilitation System, developed by Dr. Bracy and first released in 1982, has been used in over 3000 facilites around the world and tens of thousands of patients have benefitted from this work. It is still being used by hundreds of facilities.

In 2001 Dr. Bracy took his work over to the Internet with the introduction of his Neuropsychonline system (http://www.neuropsychonline.com). It was truly the first such clinical system on the internet and was among the first of the rich internet applications that provide interactive programs and applications that run directly in your web browser. Now, after nine years of online clinical use, evolution and refinement Neuropsychonline provides the most comprehensive and fully researched cognitive skills training program available.

There is now an abundance of research supporting cognitive rehabilitation therapy, most of which was conducted with the use of computer assisted delivery. In fact, most of the major research projects in this area have utilized one of Dr. Bracy’s therapy systems. An annotated bibliography, in the Research section of the Neuropsychonline website, reviews published research in which the investigators utilized the original PSSCogRehab therapy system or Neuropsychonline to produce significant results for their patient participants. Drug Addiction Treatment Center InspireMalibu And Dr. A.R. Mohammad Implores Medical Community To Embrace A Unified Prescription Monitoring Program

Malibu, CA (PRWEB) July 10, 2012

Dr. Akikur Mohammad, Founder of Inspire Malibu, recognized by many as the top drug addiction treatment center in Malibu, California and Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences at the University of Southern California, announced today that he and his team are no longer going to standby as adolescents and adults across the country continue to ?doctor shop? and find questionable ways to fill multiple prescriptions for potentially addictive and deadly prescription medication. On the heels of a horrific string of prescription medication overdoses among adolescents in Southern California, Dr. Mohammad is launching an awareness campaign about prescription monitoring programs and the importance of physician compliance.

Drug and alcohol rehab specialist Dr. Mohammad said, ?While prescription monitoring programs have been conducted on a state-by-state basis for some time now, there is no effective, unified, national program in place that actively updates information about patient prescription patterns and that is beyond tragic.? Mohammad added, ?Not only would a unified, national prescription monitoring program save countless lives, it would act as a system of checks and balances to maintain accountability for both patients and physicians, which would be a game changer. While we understand that addicts will try to manipulate the system, physicians cannot be dissuaded; we must collectively build a system that protects the addicts, holds medical professionals accountable and builds a unified monitoring database.?

Inspire Malibu?s team is launching an awareness campaign designed to inform the community at-large and the medical community about the importance of building and maintaining an effective, national program. Mohammad added, ?A national monitoring system is also a way in which patients can keep track of which physicians are participating and how they?re participating in the program. Any physician who is not actively participating in a prescription-monitoring program is suspect in my opinion, and patients deserve to know which physicians are contributing to the problem by not doing their part. A national program will widen the scope and centralize the data but at the end of the day, patients and families can learn a lot about a physician?s true concern for patient welfare by asking a doctor if they participate in a prescription monitoring program; the answer should always be yes!?
